Science and technology put us in the peculiar position To be able to create our doom or create a solution. The only thing we're lacking is people with vision, More than comforts or luxury, we need education. Don't give desperate people only food and shelter, Give them art and reading, give them culture. None of us will be happy unless we all are. The whales are beaching taking their own lives, Because they can sense, maybe even realize, That with pollution of oceans they can't all survive. Teens too are calling it quits long before their time. They find little comfort in knowing they may not die. If society is wiped out why even try? There's more to life than scrounging to survive. What have we left for our tender and our young? All hope has been thrown on the gallows and hung. How do we tell them we only lived for fun, Planning for their future had never begun? The value we lived by was look out for number one, We never even learned to take energy from the sun. Our epitaph will read: We fought for the oil, killed everyone. The poor are miserable and lead desperate lives, The well off are happy and satisfied. Divorce rates, alcoholism, and teenage suicides, Show that is just another lie. We have to tap the love in our hearts If we want life to grow, We have to plant the seed and nourish our soul. Adopt a family living in poverty. For the underclass in the inner cities Plan a citizens market economy, Where local residents sell each other goods and services On a Low Tech strategy to harvest their manpover and resources. Adapt the plan to fit the specific environment in which it exists. Improve the world you live in, reduce the human deficit. If you are middle class and make fifty grand a year, Take ten grand and give it to a family that's poor. Don't invest your savings in things that are dead, Like shopping centers and office buildings, Invest in your soul instead.
